Last time we checked, there were 45 million people whoai??i??d played Fortnite, a number so large it would make the overall Fortnite population the 31st largest country in the world, a little ahead of Argentina and just behind Spain. Those numbers are now about three weeks old, so thereai??i??s likely to be even more people playing by now, and with that many people involved, itai??i??s no surprise that Fortnite is making its way further into the public eye.

Last week, in Germanyai??i??s 3. Bundesliga football league match between Karlsruher SC and Chemnitzer FC saw a Fortnite Battle Royale-themed celebration. After Daniel Gordon scored Karlsruherai??i??s decisive second goal in their 2-0 win, he dropped to his knees and started crawling towards his teammate Marc Lorenz. The latter then mimed hitting Gordon with a pickaxe, in a manner instantly recognisable to any Fortnite fan.
Elsewhere, up-and-coming MMA fighter Sean Oai??i??Malley has made his enjoyment of the game apparent. In a video published yesterday by the official UFC YouTube account, Oai??i??Malley can be seen playing the game in his hotel room. ai???Fortnite?ai??? he says, ai???Iai??i??ve got over 100 hours on that, announcing that his favourite game mode is Squads.
