The button that allows you to report players in Rainbow Six Siege has often been somewhat of a mystery to players, as the inner workings of what it does and how Ubisoft respond have always been under wraps. Macie Jay, a popular YouTuber, has tweeted that he’s seen a notification that says players can be banned for toxic behaviour, and Its_Epi, a community developer for Ubisoft, has confirmed that Ubisoft are testing a new system that targets toxic players, banning them for specific language.Ai??
Don’t get angry because of your team, just find a new operator to carry with.
Real name Craig Robertson, Its_Epi added this to a reddit thread about Macie Jay’s tweet. The full comments reads “We are in the process of testing a new method of banning players that are acting in a wholly inappropriate manner.
“For those of you concerned, don’t use racial slurs, homophobic slurs, or tell people to kill themselves and you’ll be fine.
“And before anyone says it, no, we really don’t care at all about the “context” of the string of slurs you dropped in chat.”
He followed up to a comment asking whether a player who uses “my nigga,” used in a congratulatory way, should stop now that this new system is being tested, saying that, yes, implying that will be flagged under this new system.Ai??
Its_Epi added elsewhere that this is a part of a “long term plan for addressing toxicity,” and one of the things that the team is looking into. And, finally, he’s also taken to Twitter to make it abundantly clear: don’t use racial slurs, because you’ll get banned in the game. Rightfully so, too.
It’s mind blowing how people are FURIOUS there are consequences for using racial and homophobic slurs in Rainbow.
“I have to turn off chat because I’m afraid I’ll be banned now.”
What the hell? You literally CAN’T STOP YOURSELF from using racial slurs?
Turn it off.
